This position is a high-level accounting position within the Finance Department. The Finance Accountant is responsible in assisting with the preparation of the financial statements and works closely with department managers ensuring thorough knowledge of their fiscal responsibility and providing education on accounting processes. They must provide guidance and serve as a mentor to accounting clerks and is assigned with the more crucial elements and projects to be conducted within the Finance Department.
Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
Minimum of 4 years accounting experience with knowledge of spreadsheets.
Computer skills required.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP principles related to the casino industry.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure to meet critical deadlines.
Attention to detail.
Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
Must have a professional appearance and posses the ability to work with confidential data.
Essential Job Functions:
Assists in the preparation of financial reporting as required.
Reconciles & analyzes balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Reconciles the general ledger to subsidiary journal for accuracy and diligence.
Reconciles all cash on property, payroll and cash disbursements.
Produce daily/month end journal entries and creation of month end reports/graphs for management.
Participates in the month-end General Ledger close process to ensure financial statements are accurate and thorough.
Adheres to the requirements of the department’s month-end close schedule.
Reconciles all Fixed Assets on the property to ensure properly recorded in the Fixed Asset System.
Reconcile and tracking of all construction/capital projects.
Analysis may require detailed research into various books and records.
Assists in special projects as required.
Verifies the accuracy of information transmitted to the financial reporting system.
Guides teammates by providing each with the knowledge, development and appropriate direction to perform his/her responsibilities ensuring they have the necessary information and resources.
Exhibit sound decision making with emphasis on motivating team and maintaining high morale.
Acts as a role model and always present oneself as a credit to Harrah’s and encourage others to do the same.
Must be able to assist Internal and external auditors.
Must be able to work with Caesars corporate employees.
Recommend policy and procedure changes.
Must be able to adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
Works a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Works a reasonable amount of overtime when required.
