Job Summary:

Harrah’s Northern California is looking for a creative and motivated Marketing Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in marketing operations within the gaming and hospitality industry. The intern will collaborate closely with the marketing team on a variety of tasks, including social media management, content creation, market research, and event support. This role is integral to enhancing brand awareness, driving customer engagement, and promoting key attractions, all while contributing to the casino’s overall marketing strategy. 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional drive with a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of design tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software (preferred).
  • Passion for marketing within the hospitality, gaming, or entertainment industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the marketing team in daily administrative tasks.
  • Learns the operational workings of the department assigned by observing Team Members, participating in meetings, asking questions, and evaluating processes and services.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by department management.
  • Assists department management with assigned operational functions consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, division, and organization.
  • Provide support for marketing and advertising activities, such as social media, direct mail, and web campaigns.
  • Assist with the monitoring and analysis of marketing data to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and digital content.
  • Collaborate on social media content creation, scheduling, and engagement strategies.
  • Assist in the distribution of marketing materials.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of promotional events and activities.
  • Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions to develop innovative marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Interns from other departments to organize, complete, and present group project (when applicable).
  • Develop an understanding of each area of the Casino Marketing Division.
  • Volunteer in events organized by the H.E.R.O. Committee to provide support to local organizations in the community.
  • All team members will follow the Everyone Greets Everyone (EGE) policy. It is the expectation that every team member, front or back of house, should proactively seek out opportunities to greet guests and their fellow team members daily. EGE policy states teams members should: acknowledge guests and fellow team members within 10 feet; initiate friendly verbal greeting within 5 feet; keep your head up, look around (“head on a swivel”); look for opportunities to greet guests and others; please remember that when you are on the floor, you are “on stage”.   
  • Team members will participate in all mandatory meetings and pre-shift BUZZ sessions.
  • Must have consistent and regular attendance.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. 
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and complies with all state, federal and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule including holidays, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work a reasonable amount of overtime when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical, Mental & Environmental Demands:           

  • Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to work on the computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment including but not limited to computer, keyboard, mouse, copy machine, printer and facsimile.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, pull and push up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in areas containing secondhand smoke, dust, loud noises and bright lights.
  • Other duties as assigned.
